Summary of the project

Key Technologies for Integrated Control of Multi-dimensional Coupling Dynamics of Intelligent Automated Vehicles with Time-delay effects

The time delay emerging in the intelligent vehicle control relevantly influences the performance of the vehicle motion control, and lead to a decreased level of vehicle stability and riding safety. The aim of the project is the investigation of the effect of the time delay, and provide solution for the related control problems, in order to enhance the performance of intelligent self-driving vehicles. The hierarchical structure of the control loops applied in automated vehicles leads to a coupled time delayed dynamical system, which are usually investigated by means of relevant simplifications, i.e. the coupling of the different levels are neglected, although the stability properties, the performance and efficiency of the control are strongly influenced by these couplings. In the project, the following topics is under investigation: the modelling and understanding of the dynamics of the vehicle system containing several coupling between the control loops; the decision-making algorithm to avoid conflicts between the vehicles; integration and optimization of the control loops.
